10 Questions: Graeme Clark
Describe yourself in 3 words. Church, Music, Football.
What has been the proudest moment in your life so far? April 3rd 2004- Getting married to Charlotte.
As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? I wanted to be a teacher.. which is actually what I do now!!
What has been the most embarrassing moment you’ve had? I'm really sorry, I can't think of one!!
Tell us something that not many people know about you. The first album that I ever bought was Jive Bunny and the Master Mix (I saved up for months to get that!)
Are there any plans to use other household appliances on your next album? Not sure at the moment. However, if there are any that happen to be in the same key as one of my songs then anything is possible. Recording the vacuum cleaner happened by accident so we'll just have to wait and see.
What made you decide to put a ‘making of’ documentary on this album? Just seemed like a cool idea. I wanted to have a personal record of the recording process. Me and Matt, my artwork designer, thought that it would be good to add a CD-ROM feature. We also decided to add lyric and chord sheets so that the songs could be used by people in churches if they wanted to!
You mention in this documentary about your battle with cancer last year. How did this affect your faith? It didn't affect our faith in a negative sense. It actually made our faith stronger as our reliance on God was greater. Even though it was a time of great suffering, we saw God answer so many prayers and turn around impossible situations. He is so amazing and we are thankful. My wife and I have come out the other side stronger in our walk because of it.
Some of us will have seen you leading worship in Glory at Grapevine. What was the highlight of this year’s event for you? I had 3 main highlights:
- The Saturday night late night which I did was great. The crowd were brilliant and really up for worshipping which is what it is all about. Even without any practices I thought that we played well and all the feedback from the night so far is good.
- Leading worship in Glory was great. It is always a humbling experience to see people worshipping to a song that you've written yourself. Knowing the experiences that these songs were written out of can make singing them quite difficult and emotional but seeing people draw close to God through them is great!
- Just seeing God do so many things in people lives. A guy who used to be my youth leader was healed over the weekend. He had been in a wheelchair but just got up out of it and walked after being prayed for. It was front page news in our local paper and that's just amazing. We want more of that for sure!
Apart from on your albums and at Grapevine, is there anywhere else we can hear you? I lead worship at New Life in Lincoln. I have also been involved in leading worship at the Treacle monthly event. There are discussions about coming down to the Huntingdon area to put on a worship concert maybe for the youth, I'd love that. We're also hoping to put a mini tour together maybe in the New Year, watch the website for news.
