Maradufu Christian Missionary Ministries
Plumbline Ministries’ strength is relationships. Recognising the potential of each individual and helping that to be realised is a gift of Simon Matthews apostolic ministry. This means that there are regular births of new and revitalised gifts in those within the family. It is not static but a living, moving, growing ministry. Such a birthing has taken place in the case of Nigel and Barbara Double in recent years.
Having had wide ministry experiences earlier in life, they joined the family of Plumbline in 1987. At that time they required fresh vision and growth, having come into a beleaguered place. The environment at Huntingdon has proved an ideal setting for that renewal, and the outcome is Maradufu Christian Missionary Ministry, a two-pronged ministry which is a part of Plumbline Ministries.
Responding again to the initial call of mission, Nigel and Barbara have launched into missionary ministry. Tanzania Africare is the overseas focus, and Salt to Society - influencing how we live is their outworking of helping to bring revival and harvest to Britain and Europe.
Whilst pursuing this vision Nigel and Barbara will make their home base in Ipswich and support the Plumbline church plant being established there. In addition they continue to play a vital role in the leadership of Plumbline Ministries, supporting Simon and Julia, and individual and church situations as and when required.
Nigel and Barbara make several visits per year, encouraging church leaders and helping local churches respond to the changing challenges that lie ahead. They are involved in:
-
leadership seminars.
-
training locals to provide nursery education for children.
-
rehabilitation for families affected by HIV / AIDS.
-
serving MPs in Tanzanian government.
While parliament is sitting, Nigel visits Westminster to encourage and support those involved. Salt to Society seeks to bridge the divide between church and politics, bringing to attention policies which need prayer and comment through:
-
affecting Westminster by serving MP’s and prospective MP’s.
-
interfacing with Westminster by encouraging churches to engage with politics.
-
envisioning young adults through prayer and encouragement, and facilitating those showing an interest in entering politics.
