Overseas Involvement

God has entrusted us with significant involvement in a number of overseas countries. As in the UK our policy overseas is to work with local leaders where we believe God has joined us in an ongoing relationship. Some situations have a direct relationship with Simon, while others have their primary relationship with someone else from the Plumbline team. Other notable relationships have developed between Plumbline UK churches and situations overseas over the course of time.

The extent of our involvement varies but frequently involves (via regular visits and other contact) the provision of advice and accountability, teaching and help with leadership training, financial assistance and practical aid.

Current key relationships include:

France

Stephen and Becky Hudson have been in the Paris suburb of Versailles since 1999.  Stephen was a founder member of Huntingdonshire Community Church and together Stephen and Becky helped Tim Anderson start the Plumbline church in Cambridge.  Since arriving in France, they spent 9 years serving in a charismatic Baptist church in Boulogne-Bilancourt and then 2 years trying to plant a church on their own.  In 2011 they joined Hillsong Paris, where there are trying to use their gifts to serve a large and growing church with an abundance of young people.  Ruth Brown and family from Royston visit us regularly on behalf of Plumbline and their support and friendship is much appreciated.

France

Elie and Judith Ferraro live near Avignon in France

“… We don’t lead a church in the classic way, and find that an asset for offering pastoral care with no strings attached, to many people in our region, from many different streams and some leaders in churches. Our home is our ministry base and sometimes we hold meetings, but mostly the setting is ‘the ministry of the cup of coffee’ or a meal. We also have a bedsitter flat available and seek to make our home a place of revelation, restoration and healing for people who come.

We love the presence of God, we love the family and we love the Church. Our strength seems to be building the Church as a family and the family as church. We seek to equip parents as they raise their children and equip families to experience the life and love of Jesus in their every day challenges.

We also respond to invitations for ministry beyond our immediate region.

Via the association we founded in 2000, Racines et Devenir, we facilitate parenting courses and train other facilitators, with a view to serving the community at large.”

Guam

Rob and Allison Zimmerman been involved in church planting and ministry development in the Pacific Islands since 1988. Together with their 5 children they have pioneered ministries in Micronesia in remote places such as Kiribati and Nauru. Since 1995 they have been based on Guam with a practical ministry focus and an emphasis on restoring broken lives and recovery from addictions.

They currently pastor a growing church called Zion Fellowship and lead a team of 18 in the many ministry outreaches.

In 2008 Rob and Allison established a Missionary-in-Training Internship Project. Several interns have gained practical ministry skills and if they qualify they can even become certified as a substance abuse counsellor.

Pioneering ministries requires a lot of help so please pray for more anointed labourers for this work.

Malawi/Mozambique

Plumbline Ministries have had a relationship with Lapson and Ellen Mbewe since 1990 when they served as part of the apostolic ministry of the late George Lampi. The Christian Apostolic Church of God was founded by them in Malawi in 1996, also working into the neighbouring country of Mozambique. There are now in excess of 200 local "Christian Apostolic churches" largely in very rural areas in these two poor African countries and The Christian Apostolic Church of God is now officially registered in both countries. In addition to leading this church ministry, Lapson oversees the non-denominational leadership training organisation: Redemption Village Bible Teaching Ministries, which he founded in 1993. He is also very involved with Torch Trust for the Blind ministering to blind groups of people in both Malawi and Mozambique and with Ellen they also provide practical care for a large number of widows and orphans.

Prayer for Europe

Europe is a continent of 47 countries covering nearly 10 million square kilometres and is home to over 700 million people. Historically it has been the base for huge mission sending endeavours that have changed the world, but today Europe is widely considered to be the spiritually darkest continent on earth. We have a heart and desire to see God move once again in power all across Europe, awakening his church and bringing in a harvest of souls.

At this point we have been praying for Europe with periodic seasons of prayer and seeking to mobilise people into short term missions. For some years, small teams have been going out from the UK to strategic places in mainland Europe to pray and to build and strengthen relationships.

For more information about Plumbline in Europe, contact Tim Anderson at tim.anderson@citylifechurch.net or Paul Brown at p.brown@tlc-royston.org.uk.

Other

In addition to assisting these associated ministries we also have input to churches in Croatia, Poland, Romania and Tajikistan. Our UK related churches also give financially to various other overseas ministries and practical aid projects as well as encouraging appropriate members of their congregations to pursue overseas service via other missionary organisations.
